Terms

Last updated 27 September 2026

Starling by 90five (“Starling”) is a mail and calendar app run by 90five. By signing in you agree to these terms. The privacy page says what Starling stores and why.

A beta, by invitation

Starling is in beta and free while it is. Only invited addresses can sign in. Features change, some will have rough edges, and Starling may be unavailable at times. We may end the beta or your access; we will tell you first whenever we can, so you have time to move on. Your mail is not affected: it stays with your provider.

Your account

Your account is for you alone. Keep what signs you in safe: your Google account, your email inbox, and, if you use it, your authenticator app and backup codes. Only link mailboxes and calendars you are allowed to use, and tell us if you think someone else got into your account.

Your mail and what Starling does with it

Your mail and calendars remain yours. You allow Starling to read and change the mailboxes and calendars you link, only to do what you ask of it: show them, send, reply, file, delete, schedule and remind. What you do in Starling happens in your mailbox, just as if you did it in Gmail or Outlook. That includes Delete forever, which cannot be undone. Keep your own backups of anything you cannot afford to lose.

Fair use

Don’t use Starling to send spam or unlawful content, to break into accounts or systems, to get around its limits or security, or in a way that disrupts it for others. Your providers’ own terms (Google, Microsoft) still apply to your mailboxes.

No guarantees

As a free beta, Starling is provided as it is, without guarantees that it is always available, error-free or fit for a particular purpose. We are liable without limit for intent and gross negligence and for injury to life, body or health; otherwise only for breaches of essential duties, limited to the damage typical and foreseeable for a free service. Nothing here limits liability that the law does not allow to be limited.

Ending

You can stop at any time: Settings → Accounts → Delete account erases your Starling account. If we change these terms in a way that matters, we tell you in Starling or by email before the change applies.
